PIPM: Pretty in Pink Megan: The Quest for Perfect Skin

The Quest for Perfect Skin

I am a little bit insane when it comes to skincare and I totally own up to having a version of BDD that I like to call FDD (aka facial dismorphic disorder).  I will find one little mark on my face from a zit that won't go away and go on a downward spiral researching anything and everything that will help with facial imperfections.  I will also pick at ANYTHING that is on my face which has led to some small marks that will not go away.

Someone commented on my Instagram to go get some Black African Soap because it helps with bumps and acne.  I am here to report to promptly get in yours car and skirk to your nearest Kroger, Whole Foods or Walgreen's and get yourself some black soap! I have only been using this soap since Saturday and my skin has vastly improved.  The texture has totally changed and my forehead is practically clear of any bumps.  The best part about it?  This soap is only TWO DOLLARS! So you really can't lose by giving it a try.

Okay, so we've got something for the current breakouts and flareups, but what about the spots that won't go away?  Enter in Scar Sheets.

My friend Dana told me about these years ago and I've been using them ever since.  I cut each sheet up into 4 pieces and apply them to spots, acne scars, as well as wrinkles.  What works even better is using a retinoid and then applying them overnight.  The scar sheet works as a capsule to make sure the retinoid really penetrates the skin.

So that leaves a few things that I am still looking for:

- Another really good mask.  I've been using the mean green and the aztec mask, but I want another really good one to add to my arsenal.

- A daily moisturizer to wear under my makeup with a good SPF that also won't break me out.

So tell me, what are you all using these days?

I love Estee Lauder's SPF to wear under my makeup. I also wear Bobbi Brown's daily moisturizer. It works wonders!

I just got sucked into reading black soap reviews on amazon. Have you seen the liquid black soap? I can't wait to try this. Thank you!

My facialist at Mario Badescu gave me a sample of the aloe face lotion. It's SPF 15 which usually equates to Grease City for me, but it's been GREAT. No added shine but solid moisture. I like their stuff too because it isn't crazy expensive.

I need the black soap ASAP. I feel your pain with the skin care. I'm almost 30 and still it's a daily battle with the pimples- wtf!?? I use SkinMD as my moisturizer. It doesn't have SPF. I quit using SPF because I'm pretty sure titanium dioxide breaks me out.

Definitley going to try the Black Soap, sounds great (and better yet, really inexpensive!)...I have tried so many day creams, and always find my way back to Oil of Olay Complete w/SPF 15--I use the one for sensitive skin, it doesn't cause breakouts, is a really light formula that still hydrates, and goes on smoothly under makeup! My 90 year old grandma has used this for years and years and has fantastic skin too.

I'm going to Whole Foods at lunch time to get the Soap. The congestion (bumps) I sometimes get on my chin is so annoying. I have been using Peter Thomas Roth Sheer SPF 50 oil free is amazing. Less freckles this year, I think ;) From Amazon.com

I use Boots protect and perfect line. I think it's just as good as Dior hydra life (which is also great) but at a fraction of the price. Then on top of my boots every day i use diorsnow BB cream. It has some icelandic glacier water in it--whatever that means--but its tinted and has SPF 50! And it lasts forever. Like literally 6 months. Try it out! I'm definitely giving that black soap a try. I remember my mom using that when I was a kid!

I've finally the perfect day moisturizer. La Roche Posay anthelios SPF 15. Most formulas with SPF make my face burn and have that nasty, pasty sunscreen feel and smell. This one blends right on and wears great under make up. Check it out.

I use raw honey (organic only) every other day. I put it on when I hop in the shower then leave it while I wash my hair. The gritty texture helps exfoliate gently, and it has totally changed my skin texture. No more greasy forehead!! I then use Jojoba oil for moisturizing. My skin is totally different now that I don't use any chemicals!
