PIPM: Pretty in Pink Megan: Monday Musings

Monday Musings

If you follow me on Instagram (name: pipmegan), you know that I am now loving eyebrow pomade.  Random, right? Quite honestly, I always thought it was weird when people took time to "do" their eyebrows.  I decided to play around at the Anastasia section in Sephora and it was all downhill from there.  I am a HUGE fan of the Anastasia Brow Pomade in blonde.  I also bought an angled brush to use with the pomade.  The overall effect is fuller and more defined brows:

This is the brush that I got to apply the pomade with:

My next mission is figuring out how to contour ... any good beginner videos out there?  I could spend hours watching YouTube makeup videos and I feel like I've seen so many on contouring but I can't quite replicate the effect on myself.

The Queen of contouring, Kimmy K!

If you are looking for a classic black pump, look no further than the J.Crew Roxie pump! I was hesitant to order these because of the heel height, but after breaking them in they are quite comfy!  I always break in heels by walking around the house with 3 pairs of socks (if you want to really break them in apply heat from a hair dryer).

I also ordered these festive earrings during one of their 25% off promos ... they are surprisingly not heavy at all!

I've had these red Hunter boots ever since I got them on Gilt almost 4 years ago!  I still wear them almost every time it rains, but it's about time for me to get another pair as these are pretty worn being that they have been around the horn!

I really like the shorter pair.  Every single time it rains I tell myself to just order a pair of the short ones but I never do!

We've had the same couch for 6 years and it's really starting to get to the point of no return.  It's actually held up well considering we have 4 dogs, but its time is coming to an end.  I've been casually looking for a new couch for a few months now and just can't seem to find anything that I like.  I want to make sure it will hold up well and that the dogs won't ruin it!  Do you all have any suggestions? I was thinking leather given the dog situation, but my Mom pointed out how badly a leather couch would get scratched up with all of the dogs.  I was just thinking it would be way easier to clean.

Here is a couch that I love ... but blue velvet?  Probably not the best idea :(

And here's the couch we've had for 6 years- bless it.

See the dogs up there? They're like little mountain goats!  I'd love to say, "Oh let's get a frou frou couch and I just won't let the dogs up on it!", but we all know that will never happen as I am a slave to my dogs and just let them do whatever they want.  I'm sure I'll be a fantastic parent someday! :/

Here is another couch I've seen floating around the internet that I think I like, but I would hate to blindly order a couch online without seeing it in person:

I think it's Mid-Century modern?  Is it hideous?  I just googled "tan leather couch" and this one keeps popping up.  I have no clue about decorating.  I probably need some sort of help, but I'm too cheap to hire someone for that.  I'd rather buy clothes and eyebrow pomade.

I should probably just get the blue velvet one, right?  I just want a chic and crazy living room with eclectic touches and Jonathan Adler pillows.

I mean, these pillows are so crazy, but I love them!

What do you all think about the couch situation?

I have to agree with your Mom - leather would be destroyed in no time with dog nails. :( I am not sure if y'all have Pottery Barn or Restoration Store outlet anywhere near you but they always have great options for way less than store bought. And for crazy bright fun pillow check out DENY. They have some on the Target site but way more options on the DENY website. Best pillow in the world!

I have a dove gray velvet couch from West Elm (the Henry style) and it's held up surprisingly well with my pug and my bf's two dogs - all of whom shed a TON and essentially live on the couch. It's pretty easy to vacuum hair up and also clean up any spills.

I also got it at the PB outlet so it was super cheap.

Sadly, the velvet will not hold up with the dogs. Regarding leather, if it's a more rustic, lived-in leather, then it's no big deal. We have one like that, and the dog nail scratches, which absolutely happen, just give it more character. Overall it's still much easier to clean. Happy hunting! And definitely post a contouring tutorial when you find a good one!!

I feel so much better now - I let my massive dog and cats up on the couch all the time, and my poor couch is looking a bit worse for the wear. I live with it, because my pets are my loves and I would rather have happy pets than a flawless home.

Leather scratches really easily, imo, and is not the best for dogs (in my experience.) I plan to get something that allows for relatively easy reupholstering and/or cover changes in the future!

I ordered a couch from Lee Industries. Not cheap but amazing. And I have those needlepoint pillows in my Ghost chairs.

I have a cozy leather couch, and the dog scratches just give it a little character. :) It's SO much easier to keep dog hair off of it, and it is so comfy. Go with a blue velvet chair instead? ;)

We have 4 dogs, 3 small and our big boy Basset and I have leather. I have actually had it forever and it has held up really well! I want new but...4 dogs. Ha ha. I would prefer gorgeous upholstery but we have 3 that shed. And the basset drools. Lovely. So, I have upholstered chairs they can't get on and lovely curtains to ease my pain! :)

I have two dogs-- a 10lb pup and an 80lb indoor pony. They both live on the sofas. I went to Natuzzi leather and have had no problems with scratches. They make different thickness and durability rated leathers depending on your needs. In our other sitting room we had a microsuede sofa that got quickly wrecked by dogs, despite rarely being used.

The thick leather has been great, not showing scratches, easy to clean and doesn't absorb dog funk odor.

Have you thought about a couch with Sunbrella fabric? Its outdoor fabric but can be used inside and can be cleaned easily and doesnt stain.

I'm loving all these comments because we're having the same couch dilemma over here. Our couch was a wedding gift almost 4 years ago and between 3 moves and 2 dogs, it is beat to hell. I keep eyeing pretty linen ones at Pottery Barn but let's be serious...our dogs run the house and any babies in our future aren't exactly going to take care of the furniture any better! We're actually leaning towards leather because I think the scratches give it character, but we've thought about going the Sunbrella route instead. Curious to see what y'all end up doing!!

Choosing the right furniture is probably the most important decision you'll take for your interiors. A leather sofa recliner can add style and elegant to your home. Before buying a best recliner you should check the best recliner reviews.
