Pumpkin Spice Lattes & Dieting ...
Yet again, it is time for Starbucks to break out one of their seasonal specialties -- the pumpkin spice latte! FYI- they actually have the PSL syrup around all year long, they just promote it in the fall (I really couldn't picture myself drinking it any time of the year but now, but just in case you're curious ... ). Talking about Starbucks makes me laugh because one of my friends and I recently had a conversation about exactly what they put in the "reduced-fat" coffee cakes to make them taste so good. I mean, have you ever tried one? They are to die for, and with promises of being "reduced-fat" where can you go wrong? Well ... I am here to tell you that I looked up the nutritional content via their website and "reduced fat" to them is 9 grams of fat and almost 400 calories ... somewhat similar to a pasta dinner. Just as my college nutrion teacher always told us, "Reduced-fat does NOT mean low fat at all ... " Oh Tammy, you were so wise. So just to calculate my daily Starbucks intake ... (about 300 calories for the drink + 400 calories for the coffee cake = 700 calories) !!!! Really though, I could care less how many calories I eat for breakfast ... or during the whole day for that matter. All I know is that their coffee cake is a LPOH (little piece of heaven) and I intend to keep eating it.

why must you tempt me with such goodness?? I've been doing so good this year to stay away from starbucks and the Pumpkin Spice Latte' - but seeing the picture of the cake and latte may just be too much to bear!
yummy!
Unless the Memphis stores have changed recently, they dont carry pumpkin spice all year round. I know the stores out in Colorado (where I currently live, and work(at sbucks) just had the pumpkin spice shipped in. All of the pastries are terrible for you. Ive researched them all. They are breaking out a new "healthy" food like though that is whole grain, no high fructose, etc.
and you must try the vanilla protien latte. its delicious.
i too love their seasonal drinks! just hate the calories!
