PIPM: Pretty in Pink Megan: What Kind of Coffee are You?

What Kind of Coffee are You?

Rob and I are self-proclaimed coffee addicts. It's like clockwork ... we get up, I make the coffee, we shuffle to the coffee-maker and get our daily fix. I feel like I have tried every kind of coffee.

I have been on a Starbucks coffee kick recently, well, more like for the past year. We are fans of the Starbucks whole bean "House Blend" .... sometimes we branch out to "Sumatra" or other darker blends.

Recently, my morning cup of joe just isn't kickin'. I don't know why, but the Starbucks house blend just hasn't tasted good lately. Which begs me to ask the question-

What kind of coffee do you like?

Skinny Cap or latte from my tassimo. I HATE regular coffee now that I've had a Tassimo.

I really enjoy the Dunkin Doughnuts cinnamon blend.

If you have Blue Mountain Jamaican Coffee in stores near you, I think it's pretty nice. Otherwise, I'm a Folgers gal - French Roast or Breakfast Blend usually does it for me... but my fella prefers Columbian.

Goodluck finding a new coffee!

I like getting freshly ground kinds from Whole Foods or Central Market, if you have those. Lately I'm on Central Market's Viennese blend. Yum.

We are obsessed with Dancing Goats, which is an Ethiopian blend. It's made by Batdorf & Bronson, a company based in Atlanta and Seattle. It's very rich and smooth with a chocolaty note and the slightest hint of citrus. It is a lovely breakfast coffee, and is also great for after-dinner with Bailey's or Jameson.
They have it in a local cafe chain here in Nashville, and we are hooked!

You can order at www.dancinggoat.com or follow them at twitter.com/batdorfcoffe

I don't think it's just you with the Starbucks. My dad drank the house blend for years and all of a sudden he said it wasn't good anymore. Maybe they changed it?

I'm not a coffee person, but Clay is.

He likes the cheap stuff from WalMart if he is looking for a caffeine hit, but he normally drinks the Godiva stuff.

He loves chocolate... A boy after my own heart. :-)

Hi PIPM--I'm also from Memphis and have enjoyed reading your blog (I just started one...yesterday!). We are big coffee drinkers and really like Dunkin Donuts--you can get a big bag from Costco which saves some money. Another great local brand is Ugly Mug. Good luck!

I am also a coffee addict and I can't live without Green Mountain Hazelnut. It is SO good! Or if you prefer non-flavored coffee, Green Mountain still makes my favorite regular coffee.

I LOVE Dunkin Donuts regular blend... so delicious! I think Starbucks has gotten worse over the years.

8 o'clock coffee got the best rating according to consumer reports. It's economical and tasty. I however love Central Market's Texas pecan here in Houston. Maybe you can find a pecan flavor at Whole Foods or the like? I highly recommend it!!

We've been drinking a Kona Coffee blend for about a year, but I think we may be switching to Starbucks. AK came home the other day and told me that instead of making coffee at home in our brand new coffee maker, he goes to Starbucks, because the coffee is better. I'll have to ask him which blend he's drinking.

Nick and I are addicts as well- we really stepped it up a notch when we started ordering from Pete's. Tons of options- the best part, they roast, package and send you the coffee all in the same day! You will have NEVER had anything as fresh and delicious!

We love Cafe Du Monde's coffee and chicory. It definitely gives a kick! Is it bad that we've started ordering it by the case???

Hey Sis!

Are you ready for the answer to your coffee problems?! I've got the PERFECT solutio. Okay, you need a french press coffee maker. I have one that makes about a cup and a half. I buy the Millstone Columbia (I think) and use half decaf and half regular of the same kind. The reason? If I go with full caff with a french press, I would be BOUNCING off the walls. French press coffee has a very high level of caffeine, so I just use half caff. I heat up a third of a cup of coy milk and mix in the coffee and it's HEAVEN! Sbucks doesn't really compare to what I can do with the french press. Although, Han says I shouldn't use it because it allows free radicals into my coffee. Not good, but I'm ignoring that fact currently.
