Rob was kind enough to assemble the desk for me. I think I have decided to go without the hutch. It took up too much space and was in my way.
I am now on the search for cute office items like a tasteful, but fun memo board. I am also looking to either recover the rolling stool that came with the set (it's BRIGHT red- obv doesn't match anything in my bedroom), or get an antique chair that I can recover in a fun print. Any suggestions?

Here is what I have so far- I know a lot of stuff doesn't match, but I was just working with what I had at the time. I am not a big "items exposed on desk" kind of person, so all of my office supply items are hidden in baskets. I am not a fan of the file cabinet to the right of my desk, but I have to have it for work purposes. I also hate all of the exposed cords; I'm going to have to find a solution to that because cords drive me crazy since I am slightly OCD.
Any suggestions from my decor gals would be greatly appreciated because I am a novice at this home office stuff.

and also, as for a memo board you could find an ugly old (probably gold) frame and spray paint it and then add in a cork board that you have covered with a pretty print fabric. chair wise, i would get a chair with a back for comfort purposes. i think that finding an old chair and recovering it would be pretty!
SO CUTE! To hide the cords you could skirt the desk. Use upholstery pens to stick the fabric to the sides of the desk. And I second the covering the cork board idea.
seejanework has randomly fun work accessories that are cute and affordable.
Stick the cords to the back of the desk. That should help.
It looks like you are going to get so much done in your new office space! You could always make a memo board, get a white canvas and some fun ribbon, run it across and staple it under the canvas, personalized!
Looks good so far! I am a fan of chair with back and just doing a cute print. You can find differnt ideas for cord covers online that look good.
Also check out one of my favorite blogs:makeitandloveit.blogspot.com.
If you go down her left hand side bar down near the bottom you will see lists of differnt crafts. She has some good easy ones for cork/dry erase boards, fabric tacs and magnets, etc. Super cute stuff.
Such a cute home office =) To hide the cords you could get one of those things from Home Depot that hides cords. It's like a tube that will hold all the cords toget inside. I had to do that for my entertainment room to hide all the cords from the DVD player and the t.v.
I love it the way it is. It reminds me of Carrie Bradshaw's desk!
It looks great! I agree with all of the comments about getting a chair that has a back. I cannot imagine sitting at my desk all day long without a comfortable chair and I need that back support while staring at my computer!
Cute! I suggest getting a chair, sitting in a stool for longer than 1 hour is just going to kill your back. As for hiding cords, my husband is a master of disguise. He usually hooks them around the back of the desk so they're out of site, and he uses those cords that a really large and fit a bunch of smaller cords inside, you can get them at any office supply store. He's really OCD about that kind of thing. Well, good luck, it's very cute so far! I just did my desk makeover as well. Fun!
I love the idea of skirting the desk with some cute fabric and then get an antique chair and cover the seat with some corresponding fabric. I also bought cork boards at hobby lobby bought some fabric and attached the fabric the cork boards with staples. Very cute. They hang in my kitchen
I love how organized everything is!
I like what you have so far! I also don't like exposed cords but haven't found a good way to hide some of mine yet, so if you figure it out, let me know!! The stool should be pretty easy to recover. Just might be hard finding fabric you love. I can never decide!
love the new home office!!
