Check the permed bangs, please! This was right after my Mom took me to get a perm because I was jealous of all my friends with naturally curly hair!
The best part about this photo is that I used to LOVE to sell the corn. I would get really involved and make signs and make-up things to tell people about the corn. I guess I should have known at an early age that I liked sales and recruiting!
On Sunday our church gave everyone in the congregation real money as we left. The money was in envelopes and the amounts varied in each envelope. The purpose and message was to use it to better our community, help someone in need, or use it as a random act of kindness to someone. Our envelope contained 15 dollars, and today as I was in the Starbucks drive-thru I thought it would be nice to pay for everyone's drinks behind me in line! I know it would have made my day if someone did that for me :) Point of the story is don't forget to be kind! It shouldn't take my church giving me money to be kind, so I am going to try harder to do random acts of kindness like this all the time.

That picture is adorable!
I love the concept of "pay it forward". I think it's something we all need to be more aware of and try to put into practice in our lives!
I think we go to the same church! I have $15 to give. I contemplated buying a Kroger gift card to give to some of the people I see on the street, but I'm afraid they'll use it for beer. I'm donating it to a fund set up from my sorority sister's 6 month old son who is in a children's hospital waiting on a heart transplant.
Love the picture!
P.S. What church is this? Sounds like a really great place!
very cute picture!
When I lived in NYC and had NO MONEY, my mom used to send me the Starbucks cards she got as gifts from her students and sometimes that's how I would eat... piece of cake, bagel or croissant is better than nothing on $8k a year! If I had been behind you in that line at a certain period of my younger years, I would have been SOOOO incredibly grateful! Nice of you to do that and great post!!!
Where in Kentucky? I'm from there and my grandparents used to do the same thing!
Great post!!! I love random acts of kindness!
What a great idea from your church! I would have been thrilled if some nice stranger had bought my coffee. And your pic is totally adorable. I totally had perms as a young child of the 80s. Sigh.
love the picture
that is a great idea your church had!!
I've heard of churches doing this before. I think it is a great idea!
Whoa, that's an awesome idea- to give money and to pay for someone's drink in line. How thoughtful! There isn't enough of that in this world today, eh?
On the perm note, I also had my mom perm my stick straight hair! It lasted about 3 days because my hair was so fine!
What an adorable photograph!
That's really sweet to leave the cash for the people behind you. How nice!
My priest's homely on Sunday was about the same topic of random acts of kindness. More people need to do them.
What a great was to spread some kindness around. It's such a simple gesture and I'm sure you made everyone of those people's days.
I love that concept, and I've done that before at chick-fil-a! Cute picture by the way!! When I was in 6th grade, my best friend had the kind of hair that was gorgeous and could be worn curly or straight. So, I begged my mom to get a "body wave" (cooler term than perm) for my hair. She caved, and I hated the perm!!! I should have listened to my mom. Hard lesson learned!
OMG - I love that idea of random acts of kindness! That is such a cool idea and I bet it really did make a difference in someone's day!
Love the pic!
Random acts of kindness really do help. It's the whole thought of pass it forward. Whenever (practically daily) we go downtown, my babies grab all their quarters and walk along feeding peoples meters (with their own $, I use mine) until we get to our destination. then they do it all the way back to our car. Very sweet watching them, while knowing that a giving heart is being created.
that picture is adorable and I think it is great that the church is giving you money to go do things for people! what a great lesson! It sounds like you have an awesome church!
Oh my gosh, this is so cute!
I'm sure you made someone's day at Starbucks!
