PIPM: Pretty in Pink Megan: In a face care rut ...

In a face care rut ...

I don't know if you all remember, but a while back I blogged about Obagi and how it was my new "flavor of the month" with face care. Well friends, Obagi was not cheap and during my recent travels the serum decided to leak in my make-up travel bag and I lost the whole container of it! All of it spilled to the bottom of my make-up bag. The set is pretty ineffective without the serum, so I have just stopped using it.

I will admit it, I am a face-care junkie. I want to try anything and everything that's new and hot. I still use my galvanic- but it is used in conjunction with a daily face care routine. I liked La Mer, but I really want to try something new. I want something that is going to blow me away.

Here are some things that I'm considering:
- Cle De Peau La Creme
- La Prairie- Cellular Radiance Concentrate
- Chanel Precision
- Olay Regenerist

Let me know if you have used any of these and if you liked them.

Neiman Marcus is having a beauty event right now, so I want to buy something within the next week so I can get the free beauty gift.

Do you use a Clarisonic? And have you tried Pevonia? Those are my two favorite things for my skin!

I'm using Olay right now and love it. Rumor has it, it's just as if not more effective than all those fancy schmancy products out there with a MUCH better price tag.

1, AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid): NeoStrata Ultra Smoothing Lotion AHA 10
2. Retinoid (ie- Retin A, renova, tretinoin, ect...) get a prescription for the good stuff

See my skin care routine on my blog for why I love these products

I use Chanel skin care and I really think that it has made a difference for me! I use the "Balance" face wash and toner with the "Purity" moisturizer (I'm not sure that they sell this in the states, I got mine in France) Then I use the Retexturizing Line Correcting Eye Cream. All of this may not be right for your skin type, but the ladies at the counter can help you figure it out!

Regardless, I love it and recommend it to anyone!

Hi Megan,
Olay Regenerist is surprisingly effective. I've used it and have consistently had good results.

When I asked my dermatologist in LA, Dr. Ava Shamban, about using Olay vs. high end and even Dr. formulated products, she said that Olay has formulated their products to be competetive with high end skin regimens, such as LaMer and La Prarie and that there is no need to spend the $$ when the results are the same.

I do love Cle de peau concealer though...great coverage and lasts forever. I need to order some from Barney's in LA - don't think I can find it in Memphis :)

I'm new to town and really enjoying your blog.

Olay Regenerist .... I've heard wonderful things and as soon as my expensive stuff runs out, I'll be switching to that!

I use the NuSkin Galvanic also, with their Tri-Phasic White Skin Care line. It is a 5 step system that is AMAZING! I have seen a huge difference in the color & texture of my skin over the past 2 months. All of their products work in conjunction with the Galvanic, meaning, they work best when you are doing your treatments twice a week. They also have the 180 Line that is for anti-aging & it works great too! I know you wouldn't be disappointed. I sell the entire line, so if you are interested, I'll give you my wholesale price! :) I am friends with BEB & she can put us in touch!

Hey girl, I just wrote a post on Olay yesterday if you want to check it out. I haven't used anything as pricey as Obagi, but I definitely didn't used to use cheap skin care. I've use various things such as Chanel, La Prairie, Cosmedicine, etc. I have been using the Regenerist line for about a month now and am extremely satisfied. I just remember what the dermo said, that alot of otc products are going to give amazing results becuase they do not use prescription grade ingriedients which makes perfect sense. You can read the post on my blog if you like. Hope that helps!!!

My current favorite skincare line is Guinot! Have you tried it? I was having horrible dry skin, breakouts and lots of issues in general when I moved from cold and seasonal NYC to always HOT and sunny here and it's completely cleared up my skin, made it soft and glowy!!!

I have tried Olay regenerist, and with my sensitive skin, it broke me out. My MA said it's much more effective for older skin...I LOVE LOVE Estee Lauder products and also Lancome Renergie.

I have tried all kinds too and I'm currently using the Olay Regenerist line. I love the serum. It's my favorite part. I could tell my face was softer after just one day. And, the best part, is that it costs less than most of the other brands.

Don't fret! We all get into a little bit of a rut. I'm sorry that your serum spilled, that always gets my on my nerves! My Mother uses Olay, and has been using it for YEARS, she has GORGEOUS skin on both her face and neck... I would take that into consideration : ) Good luck on your face-regimen journey! HUGS

I have used La Prairie and it was fabulous, but expensive. My skin felt marvelous. A few years back at dinner I asked a lady that is probably in her 80's what she used on her skin as it is classic (this woman has entertained President's in her home and money would be no object in skin care) she used original Jergen's lotion. I tried that and it did not do much for my dry skin. I decided to try Pond's dry skin cream (not cold cream) and have been using it for several years. It works as well as the La Prairie smart cream that I paid 150 bucks a jar for saving me about 145 dollars. It is not always the price tag that gets the job done. I am in my 50's and have no major problems with my skin using Ponds. I have found that Olay products can clog my pores. I also use Purity by Philosophy to wash my face.

I absolutely love Clarins new Multi-Active Day formula. It's amazing.

All derms agree that there are only two things your skin needs to make it look fab: (1) sunscreen - so whatever moisturizer you use (cheap or $$$) it should have at least SPF 15, and (2) retinoids - get a Rx to get the effective stuff. It's all you need for perfect skin! Seriously. I've been on that regime since I was 12 - and I'll probably be on it until I die. It's wonderful and I have clear perfect skin!

I like the Olay products a lot, but I use a combination of things. My current fav is the Nia 24 line. It is really great.

Have you ever tried Therapy Systems? It is a fabulous line and made right here in Nashville. Check it out... you will love it!

Hey lady! Of the options your looking at, I have tried the Olay Regenerist. In fact, I did that based on the recommendation of Consumer Reports, which tested many face products. I liked it, especially the moisturizer (sp) but I am currently trying the Sheisedo brightening line. Good luck!
