PIPM: Pretty in Pink Megan: Furs Furs and More Furs!!

Furs Furs and More Furs!!

I have always had a thing for furs. Way before Rachel Zoe came around, I was sporting faux fur vests and jackets like it was my job. Rachel has definitely shown that the fur is back, and today there are so many options for wearing this trend.
Now I am not a hardcore animal rights activist by any means, but I really prefer to wear faux fur because the thought of real fur kind of makes me sad! All I can think about are little bunnies hopping around a little garden. But trust me, if I were to be passed down a real fur (from say, a MIL or Mom perhaps, hint hint), I wouldn't have any choice but to wear it, right? So I guess my theory is that I will buy faux fur, but if a real fur were given to me, I would wear it. Does that even make sense? Probably not, but we'll go with it.
I really think faux furs are much more popular now anyways. It's definitely not "low-budget" to wear them, I think it's just a personal choice. Contemporary designers such as Milly, Tibi, Theory, Vince, Cynthia Vincent, and Rebecca Taylor have all embraced the faux fur pieces in years past and this season as well.

Here are a few faux furs from this season that are adorable and can be worn casually or dressed up:

And as always, how I would wear the fur:

Do you all have an opinion on fur vs. faux?

As you know, I'm totally going to get the one from Old Navy and I'm glad you posted how you'd wear it because I have no clue!

I have also always loved fur. I am fortunate to have a few that have been given to me, but I am not totally sure I'd buy a real fur myself. My Nana actually had someone throw red paint on her long fur coat once while she was out in New York! Love the styling of the faux fur vest. I think that may be one of my fall must-haves!

That's pretty much my philosophy, too. My Mom's given me some gorgeous fur, but I don't know that I would buy one new. Also, there's been problems in my area of environmentalists ruining fur coats if they see you wearing one. pretty crazy! I love this look though!

Loves it! Also a fan of wearing faux and being kind to furry creatures! The purple purse gives it such a kick!

I'm pro fake fur as well. As much as I love the look of fur, I don't think I could wear the real thing even if it were passed down to me!

I purchased a great little Kersh brand faux fur jacket a couple of years ago that I can't wait to pull out again this winter/fall.

Love the look you put together.

My grandmother has a fur bolero in her closet, and it skeeves me out so badly. It has a head attached, though. OMG, I could NEVER.

Fur is so gross, good for you for going faux! That Old Navy vest just might have to jump into my closet.

I inherited a full length fur coat. Living in Chicago it was so warm but every time I wore it I felt self conscious. People were staring at me and giving me dirty looks. Plus I felt as huge as a bear in it!! I don't think big furs look good on 6 foot blonds. :-) I felt like a reject from the 80's show Dallas. haha

A fake fur vest would be cute though.

I currently don't own any fur, but tried a few on when we were on vacation in Colorado earlier this year. I plan to wear real fur, when the time comes, but am rather indifferent on the situation.

I can't believe that bottom fur vest came from Old Navy! Wonder how it looks in real life?

A friend of mine found the most beautiful fur cape/jacket at a thrift store for 10 dollars!

I remember my grandmother was given a fur coat when she was younger. She absolutely adored it!

Love Rachel Zoe and your blog, fur not so much -- Faux or not, I had to wear a rabbit fur coat when I was 10/11 years old and then became a vegetarian! Ha!

Can't bring myself to wear fur again, don't mind a bit on vest etc. But a whole coat just give me the hebeegeebees {sp?}!

I got a faux fur vest from American Eagle last year. I plan on busting that puppy out...if I can find it.

I love RZ and faux fur. I think it's fun in the summer or the winter. Who better to buy faux fur from than RZ herself. I have bought all of her faux fur collection off of QVC. It's completely affordable, and not disappointing.
Let me stop now because I am starting to sound like an advertisement haha.
Loved this post

I have both...real & faux furs. But my real fur is vintage so the poor animals died probably before I was even born so I am not contributing to the slaughter of more animals....well, at least this is what I tell myself to feel better!! Anything else I have is faux...it doesn't look or feel like the real but I love it still the same!

My mom owns (and wears) fur, I don't. I'm not even trying to get my hands on it; I'm not sure I'd wear it in all honesty.

Marie Claire Sep issue features some really cute faux fur jackets/vests (Kensie vest at Macy's and Michael Kors faux fur jacket)- I don't see them online

I was given a full length mink from an little old lady that donates to my seminary and I have a Beaver that was my great-grandmothers. I've never been against buying a real fur myself, I just have no need to. There really is nothing warmer than a fur coat.
