I'll admit, I've always been a little skeptical of the Chinese Medicine method of placing whisker like needles in meridian spots on the body.
My allergies have been particularly rough this year. Maybe it's the constant change in weather and temperature. My sinus pressure is currently out-of-control. I figured, what the heck, I am going to make an appointment with an acupuncturist and give it a try.
I have heard rave reviews from people who have tried this method, including my holistic living guru of a mother-in-law, Real Raw Women.
Being my naturally skeptical and paranoid self, I perused the internet last night investigating acupuncture and of course have scared myself silly about it. What if they puncture an organ? What if I spaz out with the needles and have to get out of there? What if the acupuncturist is a freakazoid and starts wigging out?
So I am asking you, dear readers, who has tried it? Did you like it? Did it hurt? Did you freak out a little bit with tons of needles in your body? This neurotic gal needs some assurance!

Have you made an appoinment yet, because I can tell you where Hannah I went, the guy was amazing, and you don't have to worry about anything. Just let me know. When you study the science behind acupuncture, it makes total sense as to why you can heal yourself from these ailments. Also most people are allergic to dairy and wheat.....
I'm sure you've got nothing to worry about. Although I didn't choose a speciality in the field, I learned a lot about this alternative medicine and when working with professionals, the only side effect you really see is bruising. Hope it works for you!
My husband has seriously bad sinus issues and my brother-in-law has crazy bad allergies....they both swear by acupuncture. I've never had it, but it's supposed to be painless and seems to really help my boys.
I've done it and it's relatively painless. I did it to try to stop smoking (10 years ago). It didn't work for that!! lol
But I really do believe in Eastern Medicine. It's been around for longer than Western Medicine!
I'm a big believer in Chinese medicine for minor things, like allergies, cramps, headaches, insomnia, colds, etc. I usually stick with the herbs which smell and taste bad but work. I've also known of people who have taken herbs for infertility and cancer with successful results, although I generally wouldn't recommend Chinese medicine for major illnesses. It's more like maintenance for getting your body back on balance.
I have never had it but it sounds very interesting!
My mom had breast cancer and was told that acupuncture would be extremely helpful. She tried it and was HOOKED. She loved it! She said it was painless. Let us know how it goes!
I honestly believe acupuncture is amazing. It does not hurt AT ALL and it is sooo relaxing. I've honestly seen so many benefits for it and I've recommended it to all my friends
Oh Megan it's totally fine. I have done it many times and the needles are very delicate and do not go in that far at all. Sometimes one can give some slight discomfort but, overall you will feel beyond relaxed...XXOO
I have had it done several times, it doesn't hurt at all and believe me I am not a fan of needles. It did wonders for me! I highly recommend giving it a try.
Megan, I have the whole faith in it. Seriously, it's safe and it's virtually impossible to puncture a {vital} organ with it. I am in a health profession and was fascinated by Chinese accupuncture so much that I got a training in it even though I can practice it in very limited capacity in my "regular" field. I use it for my family and self, it's truly amazing and non-invasive method. As you are I am an allergy sufferer, one thing that helps me a great deal is local honey.1 tbsp twice a day does miracles for me.
I love it. I have never had more than 10 needles in at a time. It's never like the pictures you see with someone looking like a porcupine. In fact, it's usually about 5 needles, then I flip over to the other side. VERY relaxing.
