PIPM: Pretty in Pink Megan: Guest Post: Meet Maureen!

Guest Post: Meet Maureen!

Hey everyone! My name is Maureen and I write over at The Northeast Girl! I am really excited to be here on Megan's blog today especially since I've been a big follower of PIPM for so many years and I'm really thankful that she gave me a chance to share my blog with all of her faithful followers.  I claim to be a life and style blog but my main focus is definitely heavy on fashion with little bits and pieces of my everyday life here and there when I write.

For pretty much as long as I can remember, I've been lovin' the clothes...and bags...and jewels...shoes...you get the idea...  A few years ago, I spent a lot of time working on a family blog while we were living overseas and after our little girl was born, I lost time and touch it and knew I needed a fresh start.  Hello, The Northeast Girl!  I'm an early 30-something who teaches Kindergarten by day and (now!) writes a blog by night.  My husband is my high school sweetheart and a pilot in the United States Air Force. With his job, we are constantly on the go and have moved about 6 times in the last 9 years!  We also have a 4 year old little girl, Ava, who's just larger than life and has more energy in one day than I can come up with in a week!

The Northeast Girl was born this past spring when I decided that I wanted to take my small family blog and and switch it to a public platform. With a new name and new focus, here we are!  So what about that name?!  Well, my husband and I are originally from Pennsylvania and with much pride I can say that I am a true northeast girl!  With all the moves we've made in the past 10 years, I've learned that no matter where we are the locals will take such pride in their hometown and I am no exception.  So far, I've had the pleasure of living in the south, the west, and even overseas but I still know exactly where I want to build our forever home one day.   I'm just so proud to be born and raised in the northeast and always have such nostalgia whenever I go back to visit.  Displaced, for now, I still long for those 4 seasons, mild summers and frigid winters.  I still miss the tall, green trees, the shore, the mountains, the backroads...just about everything.  I have so many childhood memories growing up and every single time I step off the airplane in Philadelphia, I just know that I'm home.  While we won't settle our roots in the northeast anytime soon, I know where my heart and soul belongs.

Over at my blog, I love writing about fashion and sharing my daily outfit posts.  I also try and do my best to keep you in the know with the latest sales and promos at my favorite stores and even what my top picks are when I'm shopping.  While I love trying out new trends, I would say that my style is more classic and preppy with a twist!  Like most girls out there, I love shopping J.Crew, Shopbop, Madewell, Anthropologie, Nordstrom...just to name a few.  But, if I were being completely honest, I really don't discriminate when it comes to where spend my time or money.  I love investing in classic pieces that will last a lifetime and cutting costs where I think trends have an expiration date.  I shop high, low, and everywhere in between.  I definitely take inspiration from other bloggers out there love being part of such an amazing community of writers.

While I love just about every aspect of fashion, my true weakness would definitely be the bags.  I try and invest in one or two a year and really hope my sweet Ava will enjoy them one day.  So far, with her overall girly nature, love for nail polish and dresses, I think we're off to a good start!  Don't worry, she also kicks a soccer ball with the best of them and that keeps my hubs pretty happy.

In a world of so many blogs, I always try to be true to myself.  In fact, a lot of my closest friends have told me that they can actually hear me talking when they read my posts each day, which I love!  I am constantly inspired by everything around me whether it be my family, my friends, a magazine, or other bloggers but I always make sure that what I post on my site would be something that you would see me wear in my everyday life.  I may not be the biggest risk taker out there but I do think my style is a great reflection of who I am.

Thank you, thank you for taking a quick minute to read my post here today!  I'm so excited to be sharing my blog with all the followers of PIPM and I really hope you take a hop over to The Northeast Girl to see what else I'm all about!
