Do you wet your beauty blender? When it's dry, it kinda sucks, I agree. But if you wet it first, wring it out, wet it again, wring it again, etc. It should grow to like 2-3 times the size. And then you use it in a stippling motion - it makes my foundation/bb cream go on SO flawlessly.
