While I do wear some of your basic items, recently, your stuff has been straight up whack.
I remember the days in college and high school when I would eagerly await the next J.Crew catalog and my friends and I would call each other and swoon over the items that we wanted.
Now, it's just all a bunch of janked up stuff.
First of all, why does all of your stuff look exactly the same season after season? We get it, you like turtleneck sweater dresses and tweed blazers. I am tired of seeing the same things over and over again.
Second, WTF is this? Really, what is it? It looks like a trash bag, but it's 98 dollars? That's just no good.
To piggy back on that, do you really think people would pay 650 dollars for a vest that resembles wet toilet paper? And what's even more scary is that this vest is SOLD OUT!!! Seriously, who bought this?
Or how about this "lace cami tank" for 695 dollars. Are you smoking crack? SIX HUNDRED AND NINETY FIVE DOLLARS for a TANK TOP?!?!!?!?
And please, please, please STOP trying to force the socks with heels trend. It just isn't going to happen.
What on Earth has happened to you over the past couple of years? The quality has gone downhill, the prices have gone up, and most of the stuff is just heinous.
Love,
A disgruntled former fan

{That's my way of saying Ditto}
Holy cow! $695 for that shiz? I haven't been a fan lately either. As a mom, I just want to brush those girls' hair too. I wouldn't let my daughters out of the house with their hair all ratty like that! Count me confused by their marketing strategy, but it must be working for some schmucks out there.
:( that's why i hardly shop there anymore!!
haven't bought anything for over 1 year now
Amen, sister.
Megan,
You Rock!
I couldn't agree more!
amen, amen, amen. on SO many levels. i worked at jcrew in college and there wasn't anything they made that i didn't adore. now....not so much.
Wet toilet paper - you're killing me! You ever think that maybe there's some marketing team going "Hmm, this is some ugly crap. Let's just put it up on the website as being sold out at first to drum up demand, then reintroduce it in a couple of weeks and see if it sells!"
$695 for a tank top is ridiculous! Good lord!
Preach it girl! I had to laugh at the items you highlighted.
Thank you. Seriously. I hate J. Crew now; I won't even go into the store in my city. The outlets normally carry alot of classic things, just so y'all know!
xox

I blame it on Jenna Lyons.
JCrew is such a rip-off. You nailed it!
Amen! I die when I look through the J Crew catalog and remember my HS and college days, too. Not cute J Crew, not cute.
I got to the picture of the lace cami, and I say "Okay, this is cute" then I saw the price. RIDIC! I completely agree, I haven't bought anything from J Crew in over a year. Except....J Crew at the beach...hmmm
you are SOOOO right on everything you said! Amen!
And this is why I shop at Ross and TJ Maxx, haha!!!! It’s just ridiculous the price of some stores when you can find the exact same thing somewhere else for WAY cheaper!!
This made me laugh and nod my head the whole time I was reading! You are on-point!
I am a J. Crew fan, a card carrying one to be specific. My Bridesmaid dresses were J Crew. I love them. Er, excuse me LoveD them, past tense. I have wandered in there at least 4 times lately and found NOTHING worth while. I can not get behind any of the trends they are starting. Most of all the trend of overpaying for crappy clothes.
Completely agreed. They need to go back to the basics.
Thank you. The damn socks are driving me bonkers!
Hahaha!
"Are you smoking crack?"
Word.
Can't get over the vest is sold out and $695 for a tank top? Absolutely mad.
I agree! My list would be even longer with many more dramatic highlights (read: "WTF?!" moments)...
I watched Jenna Lyons on Oprah recently and she said that "JCrew designers attempt to try to put a new, fresh twist on similar items that JCrew carries every season when they put catalogs together".
There is nothing "new" and "fresh" or "old and fresh looking" as of lately in my opinion. Collection items get sent in paper bags and their quality is awful. JCrew team cuts cost in manufacturing, spends some money on store events (I just received an invite) and their stock sky rockets while customers wonder why their new clothes start falling apart.
I wonder if people living in the UK browsing Net-a-Porter.com are wondering the same thing as you when they encounter JCrew items? :)

P.S. Some items come in limited quantities (like the "toilet paper" vest) and they sell out quickly. It's still odd that people would pay premium $$ for such items.
I've been in J. Crew at least a million times looking for something cute and have walked out empty handed every single time! The prices are ridonkulous and nearly every time I've been in a J. Crew I've been overwhelmed by the amount of beige, cream and taupe! YUCK! I'm a color gal!!!
Amen!
I completely agree! The socks with heels is pretty horrible.
100% agree... Thank you for saying the things the rest of us just think!
Wow, just wow. If I were going to pay $695 for a cami (and that is a HUGE "if") that is not the one I'd pick. And the sock/shoe combo needs to go.
Jenna Lyons SUCKS. I seriously laughed out loud as I read this. I remember the good ol' days of reasonable prices and lusting everything in the catalog. I rarely even check the web site anymore... Disappointing!
That is so ridiculous!!!
Yeah it's like they decided to go with the "Grey Gardens" look--overpriced, crazy, trash bags?
I completely agree with you! They used to have cute and nice stuff, but now it's all terrible!!
Amen!!!
I guess we're the type of people they don't want as customers bearing their brand anymore. It's like they decided to do a "weed out" and upped their prices and changed their line so the classic dressers, and prepsters who occasionally want to inject a little bit of trendy into their wardrobes are turned off - way off.
Thank you! I couldn't have said it better.
