OTK- the down low

Recently I received an email from a reader that made me LOL:

Hi Megan,
I read your blog and love your style. You should do a post on over the knee boots. I really want to get some, but I'm afraid of looking too "Pretty Woman." haha. Thoughts?!

Well, funny you should ask, because I have several opinions on the ever-so-popular OTK (or over-the-knee) boots.

Here's the bottom line, wear em proud, but don't wear them with skanky clothes. Yes, I said it, but if you want to avoid looking like a street walker, let's keep it PG-13 with the clothes you choose to wear with OTK boots.

I actually love them, I really do. I recently purchased a pair at Target (gasp!) that look very similar to a pair that were almost 900 dollars that I had my eye on. My reasoning is this: while I do love the trend, I don't foresee it being around for too long, hence why it might be smart to buy the cheaper versions. Knee boots will ALWAYS be in style. I just don't know about the OTK ones, and I could be wrong, but I will be playing it safe with cheaper variations of the couture styles.

Just keep it simple. Wear them over jeans or leggings. Don't wear them bare legged with a tunic. No need for fishnets or hot pants whilst wearing the thigh-highs.
