PIPM: Pretty in Pink Megan: This & That

This & That

Does anyone else feel like there's nothing out there to buy?  I have been on the hunt for some summer dresses the past few weeks and there is nothing I like anywhere.  I feel like I wear the same things over and over again because there's nothing interesting out there.

I officially ran out of foundation and I am now on the hunt for a new foundation.  Does anyone have any recs?  I've been wanting to try Giorgio Armani Silk Foundation.  Basically I want something that creates a soft finish and doesn't cake up or go on too thick.
I have been in a huge blogging rut lately.  I feel like I have nothing to talk about and get no comments anymore (just being honest- is anyone even reading?).  This makes me wonder if my 5 years of blogging is just burnt out.  I still read blogs and see awesome blogs with beautiful pictures and a growing following and it just makes me wonder if I'm doing something wrong.  I am strained for time to blog to begin with, and when I have a free minute I just cannot think of anything to post about.  I need a serious recharge because right now I just want to delete this blog.  I do love Instagram, so follow me on there at "pipmegan" because I post quite a bit.  Any suggestions for things you'd like me to post about?

Agree on all fronts. Nothing good in the shopping world, which I guess is good because I am pregnant and stuff doesn't fit quite the same but still its disappointing. I have been in a blogging rut too. It is hard to keep coming up with interesting stuff. Love your blog and always love your fashion posts and recs. I think less people comment in Summer because they are busy. I use Sheisido powder foundation and swear by it. I layer on Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer first and then the powder and it really evens out your skin. Been using it for years and swear by it!

I've worn Armani Silk and liked it but Chantecaille future skin is amazing (it also photographs well/looks dewy not chalky).

I am still reading! I love your blog! I agree with you - there's little out there I'm super excited about fashion wise. Very blah! As far as your blog posts go...I'm a huge fan of outfit posts. :)

I love Armani Maestro. I personally think it's lighter than Luminous Silk. And it's weird--I actually think it gets better as the day goes on, whereas most foundations do the opposite!

I've been using Bobbi Brown Luminous Moisturizing foundation and have turned several friends onto it! It's just a tad lighter than a tinted moisturizer and it smells nice and clean.

I love your blog! I guess since I only started reading it this spring or so that it's still so new and fun for me - keep it up.

And yes... there is nothing out there. I'm browsing online all the time for inspiration for rehearsal dinner/honeymoon outfits and I'm so sick of shift dresses and mullet dresses. I need something snazzy.

Armani foundation is fab! I love it! I love reading your blog! It is summer and everything will be back to normal soon!

I hear you about not finding any dresses this summer. Please keep up your blog. I love your blog it feels like one of the most authentic ones I read. Love your product reviews.

I'm still reading! :) I don't frequently comment because I often feel others are more witty than me. Oh well.
Maybe it's the transition from Reader to Bloglovin' (or something else)? I know I'm missing some blogs on my reader that did not make the transition.

I love using Tarte waterproof concealer to even out places, then topping with Makeup Forever HD Microfinish Powder...sometimes I feel like foundation can be a little heavy during the summer months!

I think summer always becomes the "Blogger Rut" season for most. I notice that every summer things get super quiet and by fall things are booming again. It ebbs and flows.

I agree about the dresses. Finding dresses for work has been near impossible. Annoying.

there/s the new Lancome foundation that came out with a concealer attached to it (forgot the name!) but i read so many awesome reviews about it! that's my next one!

love your blog! armani silk is my go to. please keep posting. i am looking for a classic, well made, high quality black handbag that is less than $1k... could use help there. also, if the summer clothing bounty sucks, maybe it's time to get excited about fall fashion?

I am reading! I love your blog, but I am not the type of person to comment on post.

Girlfriend. You are on the money. All I want to do is buy cute summer dresses, but everything is either a hideous mullet dress, body con or just boring.
I super sucked at blogging and I barely did it for a hot minute. Don't know how you girls do it, but I love it and need you to keep it up! Your style, commentary & point of view is so refreshing.

I'm still reading! I love your beauty product reviews. I don't think you should delete, but I understand if you want to post less. But periodically would you please provide beauty and makeup reviews?! :)

I'm reading! I was just thinking a few days ago how I love that you are so "real" and fresh. You aren't trying to just get free stuff, you aren't trying to look like a magazine layout, you do way more than just show us eleven-teen pictures of your outfit, you post pictures that aren't polished and photoshopped to the hilt, and you post pictures of you just being real. I think you're wonderful.

Everything the others have said so far - yes. Also, I'm in Texas so I know how it's just hot hot hot all the time now, and I imagine you have the same issue. We can't run around in jeans and silk and summer coats. We'd die! So it is harder to keep coming up with material, I'm sure. Just talk about life and what interests you, and we'll be here reading and enjoying that.

Also, I hate those mullet dresses. Be gone! The only things I've found lately that I liked were beautiful silk dresses I found on sale (Trina Turk & DVF). Now I just need a dinner date with my husband. :-)

Keep us updated on the foundation because I feel like I buy something use it for a week or two and then move on to the next thing that's not that great.

Don't delete we promise to comment more! :)

I can't say enough about NARS Sheer Glow Foundation, but for summer I use the NARS tinted moisturizer instead... Actually I use it year round because it's so light and lovely. It also has SPF. The foundation I only really use if I know I'm going to be photographed a lot or want more coverage, but neither is heavy or cakey and both give a lovely finish.

Blog comments are down across the board, but people are probably still reading... It's just that now they can tweet instead of comment... Don't fret :-)

I have been a longtime reader and never have really commented; I am sure there are plenty of people like I who still routinely look forward to reading your blog!

I loved when you used to recap your daily events and what's happening in your life or simply what TV you are watching. Sometimes it's really refreshing to read down-to-Earth, peaceful blogs by people just enjoying their daily lives! Please keep it up, we, your readers, appreciate it!

I agree with everyone else - please don't stop blogging. I'm a loyal reader. It's okay that you're in a rut or that you don't post often.

I love when you do vlogs and share all your new beauty finds.

LOVE reading your blog! I am not a big comment-maker, but I will work on that! I know it's a lot of work to publish, so the least we readers can do is give you some feedback!

I love your fashion posts, and it would be fun to maybe do some more vlogs? Those are always very informative!

Thanks Megan!!!

I hear you on the nothing to buy front, except that I'm looking for fall/winter clothes (and a good pair of jeans, nothing is fitting quite right!) because I'm going back to Europe in a couple weeks and it's like $300 for a pair of jbrands. GAH

Megan,

Your blog was one of the first I ever started reading a few years ago (back when you were wedding planning!) and ever since I found your blog I always visit every day! You were my inspiration to start my own blog. You have many loyal followers, myself included, who would be so disappointed if you stopped blogging. I love your outfit posts and your product reviews!! You're definitely one of my favorite fashionistas!!!

XOXO
Ashley

I'm still reading! and I agree, daily events are fun, relaxing to read. I usually read on my phone, so typing a comment (for me anyway!) is not the easiest.

I've been reading your blog forever and love it. As others have said, it is refreshing that you aren't just in it to get free stuff.

I love your blog! I totally agree with Tamara's comment above too- so many bloggers out there show crazy outfits that you know they took off as soon as the photos were taken, or they show such a fake idyllic world that doesn't exist outside of blog world. You are definitely refreshing and I love to see more actual outfits you're wearing and where you're wearing them. Also, this is random but I'm also a junior leaguer, so I'm interested in more posts on what your league is up to.

I feel like my blog is dead too. I regularly think about deleting it. I just don't have anything to say that I don't say on twitter/instagram.

I love your blog, hush!
You have killer style, if you document your daily outfit choices you'll have great content (I think)!

The Georgio foundation is supposed to be great, my friend swears by it.
I am currently using Dr. Jart's BB Cream (the detox one, black tube) which I love. If I want more full coverage, I apply that plus the makeup forever matte foundation over it in certain areas where I need more coverage (I stipple it on) - I am really loving this new combo.

I have been using Amore Pacific CC cream as a foundation - it's a great lightweight foundation for the summer!

I'm reading! I love your blog. I enjoy posts where an inspiration photo is used and then you recreate that outfit. Or maybe like a "look for less" post? Don't stop blogging!

I use Chanel's Perfection Lumiere and love it. It is very lightweight and dries with a powdery finish. It has great coverage. Chanel also seems to be one of the better brands when it comes to their shades for those of us with fair skin.

I love reading this blog! Like many others have said, I feel like part of the reason I like reading it is that it's different from many of the other "style bloggers" where they're just trying to look like magazine spread or pimp fake product reviews. I was trying to find reviews for this rando product and all I could find was the same "review" on a bunch of crappy blogs. I don't want a blurb from the company they sent, I want to know if the product sucks.

And also like many people have said, I would like to hear more about your life! For some reason that really keeps people interested.

Since you were the first blog I found and began following, I would be really sad if you decided to delete. ;) We all hit ruts sometimes, and I've tried to make a conscious effort in leaving comments to the blogs I read. Sometimes it's just so darn easy to click the X when I finished.

And I agree about the buying rut, however now that you are in Vegas, I hardly doubt you have that same problem now. But with the surplus of mullet dresses and chevron EVERY-FREAKIN-WHERE I turn, I too have nothing interesting to purchase clothing wise. When is it going to be fall again?!? I miss my leggings, boots, and scarves.

I'm totally guilty of NEVER commenting, but I love your blog! You funny as hell.

Don't laugh, but I swear by the Clinique "Even Better" liquid foundation. I've tried so many different formulas, but I always go back to old faithful.

I was just thinking there was nothing out there or just nothing I wanted to spend money on but it's all sort of in between season. Summer is wrapping up and fall is around the corner so it's the time of year I think!
