Sorry I have not posted in a while ... moving into a house is stressful! I swear, every day this week we have had comcast, heating & plumbing, alarm people in our house! The best part is they give you this random time frame that they're coming (aka 10-2). I'm like, why can't you just tell me exactly what time you are going to be here?
I am VERY pleased with my living and dining room colors ... not so much with the kitchen. It is currently half painted because I did not like the color that I chose for the kitchen. I have included pictures. I need help. What color do you all think? I was thinking maybe an olive green color. VERY deep and dark. Obviously the mustard yellow did NOT look good. Especially with the mustard dining room.
I also included a pic of the GREAT console I got at the pottery barn outlet a while back. This thing was HALF off. I just love its rustic look.
Also, does anyone know of anything that cleans hardwood floors? Ours are tracked up with paint, grout, dirt, etc. and I want to get something before the housekeeper comes tomorrow.

The house looks beautiful already! Orange Glo makes a good hardwood floor cleaner or just a damp mop.
I really enjoyed your pics too b/c it reminds me of when we lived in Memphis.
I don't have a recommendation for an olive color, but if you were wanting a yellowish color try Sherwin Williams Restrained Gold. I had my previous house painted in this color and it is gorgeous. It is a very neutral color that is a khaki-golden color. it is one of their best sellers. Everything looks great! Can't wait to see more pics.
I have found that light colors typically look good in kitchens. I struggled with the color of ours too...as you know, i landed on light yellow. Maybe a lighter green would look good :) THe house looks great, cant want to see it in person in Jan.
Looove your cute new house, I think the olive color would be great for the kitchen and will make the white really pop. My suggestion for the hardwoods is Murphy's Oil. Looking forward to more pictures as your house comes together.
If you find anything that cleans the floors, let me know. I can't find anything good. And we are planning to redo our floors after the wedding and we have some extra money.
I love that console from PB! Visit Home Depot or Lowes for wood floor cleaners. I can't remember which brand I have, but I do know its in a green bottle.
Love the Pottery Barn table.
When we had hardwood floors in our last home I used a cleaner from Home Depot in a green bottle made by Armstrong floors. It was the best thing to clean, kept the floors shiny, and they make a mop thingy to go with it. I do not recommend cleaners with oil in them, as these soon leave the floors dull not shiny-looking.
The house looks great! Love the PB console!
Oh my gosh.......you bought my best friends old house. I would know that kitchen anywhere. Too funny.
I know this is late in commenting but I have had a lot of luck with Goo Gone (or it's called something like that- comes in a small container). You should probably test it in a corner though to make sure it won't ruin the finish.
I can relate with the yucky colors.
We just moved into our townhouse that we are renting/thinking about buying [depends on post grad plans], but it's a ketchup-y red.
And our half-bath is LIME green. It hurts my eyes so much that I always walk up the stairs to use the facilities.
I don't really know what the previous owners were thinking, because it's not even the world's greatest paint job to begin with. They even painted all the outlet covers and light switches to match the wall. It's pretty amazing... and lazy.
