PIPM: Pretty in Pink Megan: NOLA

NOLA

This weekend I'll be in New Orleans for my friend Claire's bachelorette party. I am going to drive down a little early tomorrow to shop at Saks and other stores for some wedding shoes :)

We have a pretty eventful weekend planned; dinners, brunch, shopping, and fun!

Believe it or not, this will be my first visit to NOLA, so if any of you all have any recommendations (stores, rrants, etc.) please, let me know!

I'll have plenty of pictures to post upon my return!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE NOLA! I've been several times, and usually stay with my cousin who has a penthouse in the French Quarter. There are TONS of cute little boutiques in the French Quarter. My favorites were Sweet Pea and Tulip, and Hemline. I think I bought an entire new wardrobe while I was down there!

Any of the Brennan's family restaurants are wonderful and very "classic New Orleans." We went to Brennan's Restaurant (now I think it's on Royal), but it's home of the original banana's Foster (if you haven't had banana's Foster, you MUST try it!). Court of Three Sisters is also a great restaurant.

If you have time, you should check out the Garden District. We took the cable car/trolley (whatever it's called!) and walked around all the beautiful homes.

Enjoy your trip! Drink a hurricane for me! I'm jealous! :)

I love NOLA. I ate the best meal of my life there, at a restaurant called Stella! (yes, the ! is in the name) :) I had the Duck 5-ways, and the pink lemonade iced brownie for dessert. It was wonderful!!

Make sure you go have beignets at Cafe du Monde. We use to go to Nola at least once a year in college. You will have soooooo much fun!

Hope this isn't too much info...

- Cafe Du Monde in the Quarter for beignets is a must! They are open 24hrs, so you could either go for breakfast one morning or you could take a cab there from bourbon before you go in for the night.
-There are some great shops on Magazine Street if y'all are looking for somthing to do during the day.
-Low key places to eat: Mother's (poboys), the gumbo shop, acme oyster house, petunia's
-Bacco has 10 cent martini's at lunch. It is one of the Brennan's restaurant, so the food is good too. (I've actually only eaten here for a Bridemaid's luncheon and never had the martini's...)
-The bloody mary's at Pat O'Briens make for a good afternoon treat. And it is fun to visit the piano bar here during the afternoon - it's not so crowded during the day and is still a lot of fun.
-Also there is a pizza place next door to Pat O's called Dante's that is yummy. We stopped here midafternoon for early dinner :)
-Fancy Restaurants that I know are good: Commanders Palace, Galatoires, Arnaud's, Herbsaint, Stella!
-Finally, fun places on Bourbon to visit while out in Bachelorette Style: The Famous Door, The Cat's Meow, Razzoo, Bourbon Street Blues, and any others that have good music that you want to stop in and dance to.
-Outside of Bourbon: House of Blues, Tipitinas

i think the best wedding shoe is the jimmy choo "Macy". It is tall but still comfortable because of the way it's made and the fabric around the toe. I wore it when i got married and never contemplated taking my shoes off during a long reception of dancing and visiting with friends.

We didn't go to NOLA, but I've heard that it's fantastic. We did go to Brennan's and it was very nice. If you go, you have to try the Bananas Foster.
I shopped at Saks when I was there and it was a lot of fun. We also did the aquarium and it was nice.

You have to get a po-boy at Mother's - just make sure not to go at noon (the line stretches around the block!). The po-boys with "debris" on them are the best. Also, if you like oysters, there is a great oyster bar on Bourbon street (I forget the name, but I believe it's right next to the Royal Sonesta). If you are in the mood for some good Tex-Mex, Superior Bar and Grill is the best. And they have awesome daiquiris and margaritas.

Magazine Street has a lot of cute shops! Just park on one of the side streets, and you can just go up and down the street pretty much. Mother's does have the best poboy, beignets at Cafe du Monde are a must, Mr. B's Bistro is also good, Pat O'Briens is fun at night time but expect a crowd and Galatoires is my favorite sit down dinning choice. Have fun and be safe!

Love NOLA; actually went to lived there for a year. Take the trolly to Camellia Grill; such a historic landmark, plus you'll see all the great homes in the Garden District.
Shopping on Magazine St. is wonderful too; lots of little boutiques!
