PIPM: Pretty in Pink Megan: Bridezilla Emerges ...

Bridezilla Emerges ...

Okay, so I have yet to have a true "bridezilla" moment until this morning. I started of my day in a great mood; who wouldn't be glad to get 100 invitations in the mail and out of their hands?

To preface this story -- several people have told me to hand meter my envelopes so they are not fed through the electronic postage meter machine that could possibly mess up the calligraphy, the envelope, etc. I knew this would take some time, but I didn't care because I definitely didn't spend hours making my envelopes perfect for them to just get mooshed into some machine.

This morning, I eagerly march into the post office with my huge bag of invitations and kindly ask to use their postage stamper so that I can manually stamp each of my envelopes. News Flash- the post office no longer allows people to do this. Fine, I was okay with that ... errrr, so maybe it took me a minute to get over it, but whatever ...

Next, I ask my friendly post office man to make sure that my one stamp per envelope (it took me forever to stamp all of those envelopes!) is okay for the weight requirement of my envelope. Please keep in mind that I did this procedure with him TWO days before with all of my enclosures and he assured me that one 42 cent stamp was fine. Second news flash- I now needed to add a 17 cent stamp to each of my envelopes that had already been stamped with a beautiful 42 cent heart stamp. Somehow, in the two days since I had my envelope weighed the weight changed (who knew tissue paper weighed anything?!). Okay, so now I was really getting flustered. Post office friend proceeds to tell me that the only 17 cent stamp they offer is one with a lovely bright blue RAM image ... no hearts, no flowers, my only choice was a freakin' RAM. So, after all of this, I had to go back and add an additional RAM stamp to my beautiful envelopes.

Oh well, I'm over it. I realize my invitation envelopes are trivial in the grand scheme of my wedding. I was just angered at the sudden change in the weight of my envelope that led to me needing to add an additional stamp.

Finally, after sitting in the post office lobby for an hour adding my blue rams, I sent out the dang things this afternoon! Off they went into the unknown dirty "mail bin" that was probably gross and filled with dust!

Let this be a lesson to all of you future brides-to-be ... 1) You can no longer hand meter your stamped envelopes, and 2) Make sure to wait until EVERYTHING is on the envelope to have it weighed because apparently it can change ...

Please get a laugh from this :

I'm sure once your guests open them and see the beau-ti-ful invitation and other materials... they will completely forget about Mr. Ram on the front.

But, I totally understand your frustration. :)

LMAO! OMG I totally know how you feel. I was SO mad when my outer envelopes got all gross in the mail. My mom assured me that "That's what the INNER envelopes are for honey!" But I didn't care. I should have added an industrial steel envelope as the third precaution...But who KNOWS how much that would have been. Honestly, me being such a picky lame-o I would have put another heart stamp on it and eaten the extra what - $25? But that's why I'm in debt...okay I'm rambling...

I giggled at this... I would have had words with Mr. Postal Worker because in no way, shape, or form would this NCSU girl have put a ram on her wedding invitations (even if I do marry a UNC guy).

I;m sure no one will even notice the postage.
I know I've never paid attention to any of it on my mail before. INCLUDING wedding invites. ;)

This made me laugh... your poor thing! I would totally freak out about a ram stamp even on my bills, so I can't imagine! :)

Aww girl, no worries. People just throw the envelopes away anyway.

this is my favorite post ever because no guy could ever understand how a girl spends hours thinking of things like a rose stamp vs. a heart stamp. or making sure the tissue paper was perfect (we had a 2 day full out debate in my household for my sister's as to whether you were suppose to keep the tissue paper or not in the envelope, it made it in there). My mother has a huge bag full of hundreds of invitations for me to peruse when the big day comes, and to help me choose the caligrapher. so i understand your frustration. but you have a story to tell your friends when they get it. and i know it is a gorgeous classic invitation, and people will be so excited to be invited to your wedding, they won't notice that ram!

urgh thats a bummer! Look at it this way your guests will think your invitation is twice a beautiful because they were offset by the blue ram stamp

LOL, maybe the ram can be your something blue! Don't sweat it, the envelopes just end up in the trash anyways!

He totally lied to you about hand canceling your invitations. I mailed mine out last week, and they let us hand cancel our invitations at our post office. I guess it's just the different policies at different post offices. That sucks though!!

oh my, rams! i cannot believe that is all they had! but don't worry, this will be a great memory that you will be laughing about in the future!

This is just classic. Honestly, what a nightmare for you! (Yes, there *are* worse things in life, we realize this.) We struggle with our postal employees as well Miss Megan, at times they are wonderful and at other times, anything but wonderful.

They do look beautiful however, and the pics you posted previously of you working on them are too cute!

Bless your heart! I read this and couldn't help but laugh out loud because this kind of stuff is so classic in our society. Dirty post office man. Just know that most will not even care about the stamp, but I know how annoying it must be for you!! The heart stamp was so elegant!

Too funny, that would have sent me over the edge as well. Something funny to look back at!

Thanks for giving me a laugh! I can totally empathize. I had a similar experience. I weighed my beautiful invitations and was good to go at 42 cents...I failed to account for the wax seal on the back! We squeaked by with 42 cents, but I would have been so embarrassed has someone received their invitation with a 'postage due' stamp.

LOL. Oh my god...the EXACT same thing just happened to me today. There's nothing I can do but laugh. I guess it's a good indication that nothing is ever perfect. (I even was SO careful about making sure the hand-addressing I slaved over was straight....) :)
