PIPM: Pretty in Pink Megan: Holy Booties, Batman!

Holy Booties, Batman!

I will be the first to admit that last year when the whole ankle "booty" trend emerged, I was less than thrilled. I liked the idea of the look of the booty, I really did, but there was just something about wearing a booty that I didn't like. I got a pair of gray suede booties and wore them ONE time and gave up on the trend.

Fast-forward to this year ... booties are ALL the rage. You see them in every fashion ad and styled with every outfit on Saks, Neiman Marcus, etc.

I will admit that booties have really really grown on me. I think they are adorable with tights and a sweater dress. I am currently lusting over a pair of Christian Louboutin booties. I cannot help but wonder if the trend will still be in style next year or years after that.

What are your all's thoughts on booties with tights or leggings in the winter? Such as this:

Here are some of my favorite pairs of booties out there right now ... don't judge:
1) Brian Atwood Hidden Platform Boot

2) Yves Saint Laurent Lace Up Boot:

3) Loeffler Randall Wendy Boot:

4) Gucci Suede Foldover Boot:

5) Gucci Sequin Boot:

6) Elizabeth & James foldover boot:

7) Christian Louboutin Suede Ankle Boot:

I'm not a huge fan of the booty... And, it didn't help when Oprah called them "shabooties" this week. Ridic.

But, I agree they can be very, very cute with leggings or tights. I think I like them better with leggings than with tights and a dress. I'll probably pass on them personally, but think that they're cute on others.

I do sort of adore the grey suede Gucci ones that you've pictured. Those would be fab with grey leggings.

i don't LOVE the look and my legs aren't skinny enough to pull them off with leggings.

i PREFER the really low almost below the ankle bootie because i just think it's more flattering. those gucci sequin booties are fantastic!

I like booties on others occasionally, and on myself never. If I were to get some, they would be a cheaper brand, becuase I don't think this trend is going to be around long enough to warrant an investment shoe purchase. Or at least I hope, becuase I think they chop up my legs :)

A friend of mine got a pair of lace-up booties a couple of years ago, when they first started to appear and I thought they were horrible. But the more I see booties on other people, I think "Wow, I wish I got those, too!" I love the Brian Atwood Hidden Platform Boots you have pictured!

i love the loeffler randall booties. if i had long skinny legs i would wear these everyday. but i would have to have a different pair for tights w/ dresses. such as the CL pair. i love all of them. do you still have the gray pair you bought last year? what do they look like?

Love #4 and #7.. like seriously LOVE. Like Erin said, my legs aren't skinny enough either to pair them with leggings but I love the look!! I'm definitely pro-booty!

I love the bootie trend...but defintely agree that you need rather long and/or thin legs to wear them. My favorite looks are with dark skinny jeans or black tights or leggings with a dress or tunic...I think the key is black...I love the ones you picked...they are fab.

I don't like them on myself ever, but they look great on some of the girls!

Definitely takes a certain look and confidence to pull off a look that chops your leg at the ankle. I think they look great on the red carpet.

i know! i wasn't a huge fan of the bootie either! But i caved and bought a pair this year. I haven't worn them yet, but I am determined to wear them soon!

I Love them and think they're pretty classic so you could wear them for a while if you wanted.

I love the LR Wendy! I'm so sad that I don't live somewhere cold, therefore can't buy them! Boo hiss!

I think they are cute, but I do not think I can pull it off, actually have tried, but I have no aversion to it on others!

I was unsure.. bought a pair and now love them. I want them in every color. I love the Gucci ones the best from your list.

I didn't like them last year, either. I definitely want some black ones, but I don't want to get an inexpensive pair because I think that when there's that much focus on your shoe, it should definitely be well-made. Then I wonder, too, if they'll be in style for another season and worth investing in a gorgeous pair (like those Loub's). Oh, the dilemma...

I love booties, and for me it's all about wearing them the right way. Since I have short legs (I'm short!), having a bootie that cuts me off straight across the ankle looks horrid- it chops my leg up and makes my calves look huge. I can do them with tights, but worn alone is a no go- that should only be saved for long, leggy models.

I favor booties that actually "dip" a little bit in the cut around the ankle (the opening, I s'pose) toward my toe, like the bootie I am wearing for my OOTD today. It lengthens my leg, plus booties are SO comfy. They are so much easier to walk in than regular heels, IMO, especially on snow and ice. I really like them a lot, and I hope the trend stays for a bit!

I'm really diggin the Loeffler Randall Wendy Boots. I looove the look... but don't think it would be flattering on my short, legs. I'll stick to lusting in the mags.

I now have two pairs of booties, and I have to admit that I LOVE them with tights and skirts/dresses. They're such versatile and fun.

I've gone through the same bootie metamorphosis as you. Love the grey Gucci. But I can't be sure I'll love them next year;.

Ever since I hurt my ankle- any heel over 2 1/2" is a pipe dream! *sigh*

I feel very similar about booties. I have no clue where they fit into my current wardrobe. I think this is a trend I may pass on for now. I guess I'm just confused by them... who knows, maybe my mind will change later on! :-)
