Resort/Pre-Spring in November- Yay or Nay?

Just like every fashion season, I begin to get a little stressed out when websites start promoting and selling items for Resort and Spring during November and December. Yes, I am sure there might be some who are going island hopping this time of year, but it still irks me to see spring lines this early! I am just now trying to build up my sweater dress collection- I am not interested in looking at the latest Tibi bathing suits and sarongs or the up and coming YSL sandal.

Am I the only one that gets fashion anxiety when websites and stores start carrying upcoming fashion season duds waaaay early? Trust me, I love the fashion world and you would think I would be used to this by now, but this theory and tactic is one that I have never understood. If you ask me spring clothes should start coming out in March, not December and January. Can I get an amen?

With that being said, it doesn't hurt to just peek at some Resort/Pre-Spring items, right?

AMEN! Also, it is difficult because I prefer warm weather clothes over winter. Don't tease me until March people!

I totally agree. It weirds me out to see warm weather clothes this early into cold weather season.

I did a post on fashion anxiety a while back. Since I live in South Florida, it's IMPOSSIBLE to dress fall when it's 90 degrees outside and everyone else is wearing sandals and shorts!

Being a Kentuckian, raised with the "no white before derby or after labor day", I have serious issues with this...and sandals (I use the same rule for sandals as white). It's a struggle when I want to wear my houndstooth wool skirt, but would rather not since I can't wear wool without tights (and I would sweat to death! Same with sweater dresses). Plus, I look totally out of place with my pink and yellow skirted, white shirted, strappy sandaled co-worker who looks like she just stepped off a cruise ship in June sitting in the office next to me!

Okay - venting over! I know you'll understand though! :-)

totally agree! I'm not that big on fashion, I'm lame like that, but i bet this irks you like people putting up christmas decorations before thanksgiving irks me! It seems like everyone is doing it this year! And i just can't understand it. I love christmas and I love decorating but it just stresses me out that everyone has already started! haha did i miss the memo?

And with that said, those last two dresses are FABULOUS.

Oh and yes, combined with the hot weather and the early spring fashions coming out, it just confuses my issues even more - very irksome.

Hope all is well!

I completely agree! I am still thinking sweaters and boots, not resort. There is so much white in the resort clothing and I won't consider wearing white before Memorial Day!

That being said, I do get fashion anxiety because I feel like if I don't buy the resort stuff I love now, it will be gone when I want it in the spring!

I agree! It hasn't even started getting cold yet! I hate it when I want to buy a sweater and the store are already stocked with shorts and tanks.

Amen! I love spring clothes, but in the spring - not when I'm still putting together my winter wardrobe. Sometimes I feel like I miss the spring clothing season all together because winter doesn't end here until April..and then all the cute spring items are sold out! But that said, that teal and gold dress is too cute!

Yes, I get stressed too - I haven't even had a chance to wear my cute winter clothes yet! I guess orange is going to be the color this spring!

This phenomenon stresses me out, as well. I was in my local Lilly store the other day, hoping to score a cashmere poncho, yet confronted with bathing suits, for goodness sake! My head is not in a tropical state of mind as I clutch a gingerbread latte, yet I fear my size will be gone before it's time for spring planning. YEESH!!

I know that some designers -- I think Donna Karan in particular-- are becoming vocal about the way Fashion Week and the ridic lagtime are being conducted, as well as including more ready-to-wear items in their collections. Hopefully this is signaling a more livable trend!

Amen! It seems like stores aren't happy with the present they are always in the future

Loooove the shoes. What really irks me is that all the collections come out now and then when you need said items in the spring and summer, it's all gone. Boo.

Especially anxious when you live in Nebraska & will not have any chance to wear any of it unless you crank the heat up in your house! I love the second dress down - fabulous.

You'd be surprised in the demand from both the people in cold climates who go south for the "season" or the holidays and with people who are south (or like us, carribean) who go north for shopping but would never buy a sweater dress that we can't use since it's never below 70 here!

I see your point and agree on some level, but I for one am THANKFUL that it won't only be sweaters, parkas and boots when I get to the US for the holidays cause I am desperate to shop till I drop! :-)

Oh and one other thing... everyone who's anyone in NYC (I mean the seriously wealthy) leave Manhattan for the weeks of Christmas/New Years and go to St. Kitts or St. Barts for the holidays... so I think a lot of it caters to the social set of NYC.

I love the Loubs! But, I agree, when stores start doing this, I feel like I need to start buying Spring and Summer things now, like all the good stuff will be gone by the time the weather gets warm! In my mind I know that's not true, but it does make me anxious anyway.

I totally agree! It's so weird when it's insanely hot outside, and they are selling heavy sweaters. And then as soon as you use the heavy stuff, the summer dresses come out! It's like we can't keep up. :)

Those first shoes are amazing!

I will very much live vicariously through you if you get those green louboutin's

It really stresses me out! But the dresses are super cute. I am so pale this time of year I can't begin to think about a swimsuit:0

I totally look forward to resort! Living in Florida, we can wear that stuff year round...on the contrary, it stresses me out when all the winter stuff comes out because it is useless for me here and it makes me sad because I won't be buying any new goodies for some time! Resort is like a little light amongst the darkness of wool and turtlenecks! Hahha :)

Oh I love them shoes and that last dress!

The shoes are very cute. But I agree with you, I still have not seen any snow this year and I find it hard to think about Spring clothing so soon.

Okay, so, that pink and black dress MUST BE MINE. I just shrieked and I swear my head spun around backwards on my neck when I saw it, OMG.

Resort collections only confuse me. I'm all, "YAY IT'S SPRING/SUMMER AGAIN!" and then I'm all, "But hey wait, it hasn't even been Christmas yet." and then I just get sad. Sad, and bitter, and sad, and sad. :(

I totally agree...these clothes are super cute, but it's going to be cold and get colder for quite some time!

I think resort collections are kind of cruel ;-) I mean, that's great that some are headed to Palm Beach and all, but what about the rest of us?
