PIPM: Pretty in Pink Megan: The Grocery Store

The Grocery Store

Warning: This is a really random post about the grocery store making no sense.

We normally shop at Super Target for our groceries. Over the past three months, my husband has been on a paleo-ish diet in which he eats no refined sugars, carbs, gluten, etc. (he's lost 30 lbs!). We've been getting all of our meat at Whole Foods. I am what you would call a "flexitarian", aka I don't eat meat a lot, but I will occasionally eat it. I have tried to be a vegetarian so many times and always end up eating just a little bit of ground turkey or just a little bit of turkey deli meat. I will spare you my thoughts on meat, but basically I get really grossed out by meat and think it's nasty. I am a germaphobe and can't get over all of the salmonella scares and tainted meat stories.

Anywho, since my husband has been on a health kick for a few months, naturally, I have started eating better too. I am not exactly the picture of a great diet, but I am trying. I have majorly cut back on the cupcakes and pies that I used to eat on a daily basis. I have tried to find alternative healthy snacks that don't involve 100% sugar. I also don't really eat bread anymore since my husband has cut it out. It's funny how when you stop buying something at the grocery store you really don't even miss it when it's gone.
One of my favorite snacks that I have discovered are these all natural applesauce on-the-go packets. I like the apple banana flavor. It reminds me of baby food. I went through a weird phase in college where my roommates and I would eat baby food as a snack. Needless to say, I really liked it and still occasionally buy baby food from the grocery store *noshame*.
If you've followed my blog for a while, you will know that I take pre-natal vitamins for hair growth. The particular kind of pre-natal gummy vites that I take are currently on sale at Target.

Also, I blew it out in the Glade section of Target. You know I am all about the seasonal scents, especially the fall ones. I got the "falling leaves and spices" (which definitely doesn't smell like falling leaves and spices), and my favorite Glade candle scent for fall, Cashmere Woods.
Okay, so you all now of my love for our Tassimo. Well I am thinking about getting a Keurig now because Target literally has a whole wall of Keurig selections. The Tassimo gets ONE shelf at Target. Yes, I know that BBB carries way more Tassimo items, but it's just inconvenient to go there when I already go to Target every week.
That was my really random post on the grocery store. Feel free to comment, or not.

I had a coworker who ate baby food everyday with her lunch for her "dessert." I've always thought she was the only adult who ate it!

my 2 year old lives for those applesauce pouches, which he calls simply "pouch." Some stores carry Buddy Fruit, which has all sorts of fruit blends, instead of just apple based!

We have a Keurig and LOVE it! You can get some many different coffees and it's pretty awesome. I'm saving up points to possibly buy another one (if you buy coffee on the Keurig website, you can get free shipping if you buy a certain amount and also save up points to get money off other products). I highly recommend it!
On another note, I so wish we had a Super Target. Jealous!

Interesting post.... seriously! :) I'm also becoming more and more vegetarian (I eat meat maybe once a week) and I haven't missed it at all. Now if only I could cut out the sugar, hmm...

My Life. I Guess.

There are several fruit baby foods that are really good. Growing up andhigh school I would sometimes eat them for a snack. Now I have a 2 year old, so making and buying his food reminded me how good some of them are. (I like the mangos, peaches, and a tropical one best). I recently cut out bread, wheat, all processed sugars, and most carbs to try a be a little healthier and to loose the last 10 lbs that won't budge no matter what I've done. We eat chicken or fish with green vegetables or salad almost every night. I'm sure my husband is getting bored with it, but oh well for now :)

I love our Keurig, but I love my mom's Cuisinart version which takes the same K cups, way more. Our Keurigs have crapped out on us twice in the past year and while the company is wonderful about replacing it with a new one, no questions asked, it's still a pain. The Cuisinart is more attractive, and has a function for iced coffee! I die. Also, the best K cups by FAR are Dunkin Donuts french vanilla, available at DD locations. ;o)

1) I'm a flexitarian too (more of a pescatarian - seafood, no meat). I usually eat meat once every week or two, if that. Did you see "Food Inc"? That's what really turned me off of meat. 2) I love my keurig! Even Dunkin Donuts is selling k-cups now. I've even figured out iced lattes with my keurig. BBB is still the best place to get them, especially with the 20% off coupons they always send.

XO, J

I was given a keurig about a year ago and soon sold it because I already had a tassimo (and at that time there were way more products available for tassimo) Now I TOTALLY regret it because keuring is taking over the coffee aisle!

I used to eat my daughter's baby food when I was too lazy to go to the store... it's good and so low-cal! Don't go Keurig!I love my Tassimo and the coffees and ability to make lattes, etc. make such a difference over the Keurig. I get all these Keurig coffees that sounds yummy and end up not liking the flavor.... but that might be because I'm more of a fancy drink brat!

I love Target!!! They have been having a lot of great deals lately ( which usally just means I buy more stuff and spend more money ahah). Def. get a Keurig, they are so worth it, especially if you just need one cup of coffee.

How funny, I was in the "fragrance" (and cleaning) aisle at Wal-Mart the other day and this woman I'd never seen before went from talking to herself to talking to ME all about the Cashmere Woods fragrance and how she had to stock up and then she had to spray it for me (which thanks, but I don't like that kind of stuff). So it must be really good. And I noticed my last trip to Bed Bath & Beyond the Keurig dept was bulked up there too . Glad that's what I have.

Ha my boyfriend loves baby food. No shame in that! We try to eat lots of meatless meals just to save money and because it's healthier (uh...unless you're on Paleo apparently). Holler for autumn scents! Even though we're still in August I'm jonesing for a Pumpkin Spice latte already...

LOL Target is that way where it's a smorgasbord of things. I don't eat much carbs, but no carbs sounds hard/amazing. I wonder if I could do that...I BLOW IT OUT in the cards section of Target. Then I stick them in a magazine or somewhere and find them a year later. Always.

I liked this post! You should do more rando ones!

I could be a "flexitarian", too! (Did you come up with that?) The only caveat is that I live in BFE, so that makes it kinda hard when I can't get quality fresh fruit and veggies locally.

I love my Keurig, but since I'm about an hour away from any Target, I buy most of my refills online.

I used to "help" my kid finish his baby food (fruit). :)

Thanks for the random post!

I love those GoGo packets from Target and often bring them to work as a snack. They are delicious and easy to carry in my bag. Definitely worth the try for those of you who are wondering.

I do most of our grocery shopping at SuperTarget as well. Having everything available in the same store makes things easy and they are stocked very well every week.

I admire your husband for the non-carb diet patience. I have been trying to loose weight on a no-carb (or I should say low-carb) diet after I packed extra pounds during the summer while remodelling our kitchen and eating out every day.
