PIPM: Pretty in Pink Megan: Cheaper Than Extensions ...

Cheaper Than Extensions ...

{Meet Olivia Palermo, my current hair goddess ... I need her hair, like, NOW}
I think we've all been through the struggle of growing our hair out. It seems to be a vicious cycle of cutting your hair, loving it, then hating it, then going through the painful months of growing it out.

About a month ago I was this close to getting extensions. I already had my hair stylist ready to order the hair. I started researching them online and got nervous that they would damage my actual real hair. Also, no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't justify the cost (I mean, let's be honest, you could have a designer purse for the cost of fake hair).

I remembered my mother-in-law, Jan (of Real Raw Women), talking about taking silica to get her hair to grow out and be thicker. I started taking silica about 3 weeks ago and I can already tell a huge difference. I got my silica drops at my local Whole Foods. They were kind of expensive ($34.99), but supposedly they last around 2 months. All you do is drop 15 drops in your water twice a day ... the drops are absolutely tasteless.

In addition to hair growth, the silica drops are great for joint health, skin, nails, and your connective tissues.

You can purchase the drops on Amazon by clicking HERE.

Together we can all get through this awkward hair stage. Do you have any products you swear by for hair growth?

I wish I had something to get my hair to grow. I got six inches cut only a week ago, and I already don't like it. I was actually attempting 10 inches for Locks of Love, but couldn't go through with it. Lets just say 6 inches is definitely enough...now, on to getting this hair grown out again. Silica drops here I come. :)

Her hair is amazing!! I just cut 3-4 inches off of mine, while it is still long I miss my long(er) hair.
But it desperately needed a good trim!

Biotin is supposed to be great for hair and nails, but I'm terrible about taking anything consistently so, I can't speak from personal experience.

I had a ton of breakage from coloring my hair. I went dark and cut it. I feel like it is taking forever to grow. I tried prenatal vitamins and didn't feel they worked, maybe you have to have a particular brand. But I am dashing to Whole Foods for these. Thanks for the tip. Of course I couldn't stand the brunette either and have started high lighting again, so hopefully I don't start the whole process over again.

I am prettymuch obsessed with trying anything to help hair growth! Prenatal vitamins didn't work for me, and i felt kind of weird taking them.

what DID work were these pills called phytophanere. they are made my phyto and you can buy them at Neiman's or Nordstroms and online! I can tell a huge difference of how fast my hair has grown! I am definitely trying out the silica

I swear by flintstones too! The gummy version are delish! I also started taking a supplement called "hair skin and nails" that had biotin and silica. It's amazing- my hair is so shiny and healthy. My skin is the best it's looked in months, and my nails are super strong and have completely stopped breaking. I'm also drinking Crystal light "skin essentials" somewhat regularly.

If you really want your hair to grow quickly, wash and style it as little as possible. Sounds gross, but the natural oils on your scalp keep it super healthy. I try to wash only every third day, but it's hard because I work out.

My hair grows like a weed, but I have always been very envious of girls with THICK hair...mine is fine:( I've come to the realization that I will have to live with short/shoulder-length hair forever! I will definitely have to get some of those pills:)

This same brand makes the best stuff for your face. Makes your face peel and really helps with fine lines.

I noticed several people recommended prenatal vitamins and they do in fact make your hair and nails grow faster - but be warned, once you stop taking them you will notice your hair breaking off near the crown/temples more than normal. My hairdresser warned me about this when I was on them and he was right, it did happen! I had crazy fly-aways in the front for a few months!
