Today I thought I'd share a few beauty tips that I've learned recently. You've probably heard of a few of these, but I put a different spin on methods.
Coconut Oil Hair Mask- So I'm sure you've all heard that coconut oil is like God's nectar. You can do anything with it from eating it, to cooking with it, putting it on your skin, etc. I tried to use it as a hair mask a while ago and it left my hair looking weighed down and greasy even after showering. I was using it this past weekend for Apple's hot spots (it's also good on dog skin), and I decided to just take what was left on my hands through my hair. I then braided my hair and left it in for about 5 hours and washed as I normally would. My hair was super-soft and shiny and wasn't weighed down. I think the key is definitely LESS is more, even if you think it's not enough.
This is the kind that I use- Nature's Way Coconut Oil
Queen Helene Mask- aka "mean green" ... I have to give my friend Lauren credit for this method with the mean green. I have been using it all over my face as a mask for the past month or so, but my friend said she uses it as a spot treatment at night and it dries up blemishes. I decided to try this the other night and it completely ZAPPED a couple of zits that were on my chin.
Best $3.99 you will ever spend, I promise!
I'm a vision when I get home from work- I immediately put my hair up in a high bun, clip my bangs back, and wash off all of my makeup.
Foundation Method- If you watched my video a couple of weeks ago you probably heard me say that I was over using foundation because it was too thick and always got in my creases. I have started using a thick foundation brush and running it under water before I apply my foundation. After that, I pump only ONE pump from my YSL foundation and use the wet brush to dip in the foundation and then I stipple all over my face and blend. I cannot explain the difference in the look that I get by wetting the brush. It dilutes the foundation just so perfectly to give a flawless look instead of looking thick and cake-y.
Sorry for the less than stellar photog skills, but you get the idea.
Do you all already do any of these beauty techniques or have any cool ones you want to share?

I will have to try the mask and cocounut oil. I swear by olive oil for removing my eye makeup!
I use coconut oil for removing make up! It also doubles as a moisturizer this way and since it's antimicrobial it kills anything on the skin's surface, and if you get the water hot and open the pores first it'll zap anything underneath the skin too, so I guess that means it triples as a cleanser. Less is definitely more w/coconut oil on the face.
What's the name of that foundation brush you're using? A girl at sephora used a thick brush like that for applying foundation to me and it was so nice to have light coverage with a thicker foundation if that makes any sense...but now I need to find a good brush!
I am cracking up that you said coconut oil is supposedly God's nectar...very true, it is all the rage right now. I grilled sweet potatoes with it the other night but haven't used it for anything else yet. Great tips, thanks for sharing :)
That's a super good tip with the wet brush.... I usually just use color correct (green for my reddish skin) primer and then powder, and my foundation is tinted moisturizer. I will try this tip though with the TM so it doesn't streak so much.
I love that green mask--seriously works for so cheap! And it smells pretty decent.
I use all the same methods!
Love LOVE love it!
I used to apply foundation with a little moist sponge but I've been using the DR. Jart BB Beauty Balm and I apply that with my fingers. I have the Queen Helen's mask and I love it.

I just wanted to add my love for the mint julep mask. Also, if you get the occasional spot, Kate Somerville's spot treatment works wonders. Tea tree oil is pretty incredible for spots too. I like to use Kate at night and Tea tree oil during the day if I have a spot or feel one coming on.
Also, this is random but your blog doesn't really update on my reader anymore. So weird!
