I can't believe that it's already July. This year has really flown by and before we know it, it'll be fall again! My 10 year high school reunion is in August, so that gives me something to look forward to. It is getting hot in Memphis and it makes dressing for work every day very difficult. It's so muggy here and it's like stepping into a sauna when you walk outside, however my office is freezing so it's hard to pick out something to wear. I've never been one to love summer, but I've learned that I just have to embrace it since it's warm here from about April until November. You all know I hate the sun and mostly live a vampire lifestyle, so I've been slathering on the sunscreen (my freckles have made an appearance even with sunscreen).
Speaking of sunscreen, I really love the Supergoop City Serum that I've been using on my face every day. I know that a lot of you all probably use makeup with SPF, but I swear it doesn't protect you as much because you are smearing it around your face sparingly with a brush or blending sponge. I always put the city serum on first as a base and then apply my foundation. I am also using the large pump of body sunscreen for my arms and neck area.
Doesn't this look like the most comfy maxi dress ever? I love the brand Velvet because their clothes are always made out of the softest material.
I'm having a major maxi dress moment right now. I haven't been wearing many at all, but I am finding that anything I pick out online that I like is a maxi dress.
I also love this Mara Hoffman dress, but it seems SO short! I am so over dresses looking like long blouses. I don't think it would hurt to add a couple of inches so that I won't flash my bum when wearing one of these. It does say the model is 5'10" though, so I guess anything she wears probably looks like a shirt.
While we're on the topic of dresses, can mullet dresses please go away? I know some people love these, but I just can't get down. I always see what I think is a cute dress while browsing online and then BAM it's ruined by being a high-low dress on the bottom. Just not a fan. This was just one trend that I could not get into. I have a running list of trends that I hate such as exposed zippers and see thru maxi skirts with mini skirts underneath.
Who's ready for the 4th this week? I'm excited to have a short work week. Our neighborhood has a cookout and parade, so that should be festive. Do you all have any big plans?
PS- check out these vintage Chanel earrings that I posted for sale.

ditto on the hi-low dresses, and adding high waisted shorts to the list!
Totally with you on those three fashion DON'Ts. The sheer long skirt one is the most baffling to me.
I love exposed zippers but i'm with you on the others!
Really disliking the mullet dresses too--I don't think they're that flattering. Love SuperGoop Eye Cream too!
Glad I'm not the only one who HATES those trends! The mullet dresses are the absolute worst! And those see-through maxi skirts -- really?? really, people???
Girl I cannot get behind the long maxi with the mini underneath - I can't.stand.that.trend.
The hi-low took me a while, I tried to warm up to it, but I am still...meh.

I have found so many cute work dresses and then I turn them around and they've got a neon green zipper down the back. Ugh.
HAHA the mullet dress - I love that you share your likes and dislikes - hilar. XO -

Being a fellow Vampiress (freckles dictate it, as mine are appearing too even with tons of sunscreen) did you blog about a hat/face cover sort of thing last summer? I'm looking for one of them. A Korean girl in my office has one, but she has checked in the Korean markets for me and can't find one. Do you remember where you found yours?
Agreed on the dresses, *sigh*
I can't stand those see through skirts either! Why can't the liner just go all te way down? After all it's a maxi skirt right? I just don't get it!!
